With the complexity of todays vehicles, it often takes a highly skilled technicians with advanced level tools to get to the root cause of the problem. Our auto diagnostic testing service takes the guess work out repairing your vehicle.

On-board computers continuously monitor and store information concerning the performance of these systems. A warning light comes on because the computer has sensed a signal from one of the systems or components that has gone outside of its normal operating range. The computer then sends a signal to turn on the dashboard light to let you know something is wrong!

When your Check Engine light comes on, a trouble code will be stored in one or more of your vehicle’s computers. There are certain conditions (usually 4-5 specific criteria) that have to be met for a trouble code to set, and it is vitally important that the technician who is diagnosing your car checks all of them before he/she makes a repair decision.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is effectively the “tip of the iceberg”. The trouble code takes you to “an area” for further testing to properly determine where the real fault is.

Check Engine Light

A flashing check engine light is typically indicative of a serious problem affecting your vehicle’s ignition, fuel or emission systems. If your check engine light is on or flashing, it’s time to bring your vehicle to Muffler Specialists for a comprehensive car diagnostic test. Our auto service professionals will investigate the check engine code error and troubleshoot the problem. If you delay a car diagnostic or necessary engine repair, the problems and costs can quickly escalate.

When you bring your car to Muffler Specialists, our experienced Auto Service Professionals will perform on-board diagnostics and determine why your check engine light (service engine soon) is on or flashing. Bad spark plug/ignition coil

Bad spark plug wires

A problem with your catalytic converter

Bad mass air flow sensor

Engine vacuum leak

EGR valve problem

Excessive gas consumption or release of air pollutants
